ALABAMA: Fortunate to get out with a win. Struggled with reception of the fronts & pressures. Some of it just losing a 1 on 1. Some of it uncertainty. Slide protection an issue. 45 helped blocking. 81 pretty good. Don't always handle movement well up front. Edges were a problem. 26 played hard. QB missed a few coverages. 1st pick rough. 2nd went at blitz & just a great play. Legs were big. Designed runs were nice. I still think they could have gone right at them more. Center was getting picked & couldn't get guys to the right spots. 5 really good. Had some drops overall. Not enough 2. 3rd down an issue. Flags & turnover can't continue. LBs still seem a step behind most of the game. 15 prob needs more snaps. 11 over ran a few plays. 20 great. 22 solid. 50 flashed. Out of gaps often. 34 was hell off the edge. Great game. Had pressure on 2 pt play. Lost contain some. Eyes still lost at times. Discipline not always there on back end. There are opportunities to strike ball carriers that are being passed on. Not acceptable. 8 did a great job. Fought through blocks on screens. Need to find a little more killer instinct.
FLORIDA: Hell of an effort. Mistakes that cost them can't happen. Had run going early. Unbalanced formations were a problem. Opened up some holes. LT was pretty good. TEs helped. 1 ran like a maniac. 13 good. Red zone calls just odd. Side to side just not what's there. 15 great while in. Still want more shots. 17, 8 & 3 can make those plays. Protection broke down some. Gapping it didn't solve problems. DL played fairly well. Split difference with WRs some. Made them make choices. 99 great. 88 really good. 34 active. 44 maybe as good as I e seen him. 6 was knifing through. Won with fewer numbers some. 3 deep too much IMO. Procedure stuff just can't be an issue. Must be clean there. Effort great. Plans solid. Had chances.
GEORGIA: Take the conference win & move on. Tougher than it needed to be maybe. Got tangled with run stunts early. Safety support was hurting. Quickly got it outside. His accuracy really helped screen game. Skill did a nice job creating on perimeter. Protection good for most part. Couple pressures showed up on back side of slide & in play action. 1 dynamic. Good out of backfield. 3 helped. QB was accurate. Made them pay with numbers at LOS. Great over middle. OL has to be better on combos, not getting to 2nd level. Run calls started using movement against them & it helped. 24 & 17 all over. 32 good outside, stayed home on reverse! 93 good penetration. 11 forced cuts. Motion got them in man 1 time. Lost a wheel on jet roll. 24 made up ground for them.
KENTUCKY: A true comedy of errors. Mistakes left & right. Played hard. Played physical. Still can't find explosive plays. Offense seems to be searching for an identity & it has to be finding what the QB Is comfy and/or capable of. Defense was solid. LBs played well. Special teams a nightmare. Too many flags. Can't give ball away. 3rs down rough on both sides. Ball false from QB hurt. QB don't settle in. Trying find out who they are a little. Went big lineup early then did t see it. QB doesn't look 100% but has to run to offset things. 0 can do so much. WRs need chances down the field. Lack of explosives is mind boggling. Thought the OL was solid. 75 good. 13 good off edge. 2 was on top of things. Step ahead. Got out physicaled on back end. 90, 8, 0 did some things. But had to help 2nd level also. Just one that's hard to make sense of but gotta get over it quick. Can't let those problems linger.
LSU: Huge win. Did not lead until the final play. That's grit. Gave up chunk plays. But made plays on contested balls. Tackled well in space. Didn't let QB break them down with legs. Most runs were cut back/redirect. Got after it up front. Pressured on a regular basis. 4 was great. 0 was in backfield. 40 really good. Liked how aggressive they were vs screens. Attacked ball Carriers & leveraged well. Limited the free grass. Made it difficult. 2 played fast! QB worked middle well. Moved around pocket. Made throws on move. Strong in read game. Still a few IDGAF throws. 2 big time. Not overly dedicated to run. Just felt like LSUs big plays were bigger big plays.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Fought hard. Showed a lot. Run support from back end solid. 2 & 10 were showing up. Movement helped up front. 44 & 22 disruptive up front. 23 made some things happen up there. 7 active. Liked that they stayed aggressive. Just can't hold with fewer bodies right now. Stresses the secondary. QB found some rythm. Looked confident climbing pocket. He can push the ball. Had confidence in quick throws. 7, 3 & 1 can help him. Made plays. Not as much in run game. TEs helped. Good use of formations. misdirection with TEs to create space. Missed a few simple games up front. Needed better execution on 3rd. Have to bff red proud of that effort overall.
MISSOURI: Handled their business. QB efficient. 9 got going on the ground. 3 got his touches. Good to see 87 get going. 0 explosive. No turnovers & about 50/50 run-pass split. Def stuffed run. Got off field on 3rd down. 7 great up front. DBs physical. Helped in run support. Little trouble with run through early. Like east/west then misdirection then stretch out of the gate followed by QB runs. Quick distribution & let skill work. Would like to see a little more strain from OL. 11 big on defense. Strong follow up performance. Got a few rested. Got a few reps.
OLE MISS: Brutal way to drop one on the road. Felt in control for most but couldn't put it away. OL a mess. Lost in pass pro. Sloppy in run game. RB's made a lot happen with ball but got pummeled in pass pro. Patience & cut backs got bigger gains. 24 found creases. QB legs couldn't generate as much. He's tough as nails. Gamer. K ew he was taking big hits. Couple drops. Too many free runners at QB/RBs. 9 a monster. 19 solid. Couldn't get TEs involved. QB off platform too much. They can't live as just a drop back team. There were some creative calls. Same side counter direct snap, Mixed up the Q counters. 3 of 6 in RZ hurt. 38 active off edge. 1 got in backfield. 2 disrupted some. 4 makes things happen. So valuable. 6 was good. Thought they played well in the box. Not as much outside has & downfield. Flags were killer.
OKLAHOMA: Never really in it. Emmotion carried them early. Def was moving. Worked against them later with misdirection & backside runs. 28 made plays. 10 was moving. 11 caused problems up front early. 40 active off edge. 95 & 56 got through some. Got caught over perusing as game went on. Pass rush couldn't impact it with all the quick game. Shifts & unbalanced got them. Catch & run hurt. Pursued well but seemed to gas out later. Offense had some creativity. QB worked reads early on. Rome things down with legs some but didn't have many ways to attack. Pass rush was too much. Did miss a few throws as well. Pass pro rough not just by OL. RB /TE also. Moving the pocket helped early on. Just seemed like they could find a foundation. No explosives. Turned it over. Laced consistent run game. Bad recipe vs a really good team.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Just brutal. Played hard. QB made plays. Missed some. Both plans were fantastic. Had the read game going with extra movement. Took shots. Needed a little more in protection. 6 solid, he really helps. 3 & 8 made big plays. Turnover last just too much. Fumbled mesh with a chance to bleed with a lead was a gut punch. Kept fighting. 5 really good. Looks more powerful. QB has the tools. Future bright. Just has to settle in. Can't step up & leave pocket same way over & over. Edges of def were fantastic. Super aggressive. Got to QB. Made things happen. DL disrupted. DC did nice job moving & hurting the scheme of the off by design. 90/91/46 solid. LBs active. 17 was flying around. 7 made plays & prevented some big ones. 3 INT incredible. Outgaines & outrushes them on road. Just flags & TO's hurt too much.
TENNESSEE: Held on for a tough win. DL was active but did get out of place. Lost contain a few times. Liked 27 in different spots. He impacted things. 10, 20 & 21 problematic. 55 good push. Play action was an issue. Mid aligned a few times. Let them steal yards. 1 flying around. 7 solid. Offense isn't broken. Plenty of chances down field. QB missed some. WRs dropped a few. Have yo capitalize. 3 & outs a bit of an issue. 6 great. OL struggled some. Got pushed a little. QBs eyes came down some. Can't put ball on ground. Need an answer for alley defenders spilling difference. Haven't win more often in run game vs light box. Frustrating but it hasn't just magically been figured out. Adjustments will help. Still a really nice win.
TEXAS: Big one. QB started slow but body language immediately told me it wasn't a concern. Accurate & deliberate. OL settled down & Sark got the shifts & formations to help. Got to playmakers in a hurry to avoid pressures. 85 had a huge game in multiple facets. Split zone & backside of outside zone got better & better as game went on. Screens good. Catch & run helps. Only 1 TO not bad vs that group. 5 is a star in waiting. 26 ready to share the load. Made them run then went at them. DL made life easy. 95, 91, 45, 11, 8 all good. Versatility key. 11 in new spots. 0 off & on ball. 88 in & outside. Can match up. Made open field tackles. 33 all over, physical. Just strong all around. Just looked workmanlike.
VANDERBILT: Big win. Showing up & not being flat was a big statement of that program. Had every reason to. QB beat up but kept grinding. Stuck with plan. Forced hand & let him make a few plays. He's a magician off the reads. Just a gamer. Tough. Gritty & team rides with him. Did not get explosives but kept the ball again. Limited mistakes. 28 is a damn ball player! Some huge blocks! 16 helped at TE. Got 23 east west. Converted & made plays at the biggest moments. Took ball away & didn't give up a play over 25 yards. Leading tackler out but had a solid day. Safeties coming on. 24 solid up front. If you play their game it's not gonna end well. They are a handful. They have something extra.
